Diploma 3 of Mechanical Engineering applies curriculum based on the need of human resources in industry. It aims to produce skillful graduates who are able to work in mechanical fields regarding their analysis ability as well as innovation and technology.
To meet the demand in industry, this study program offers 3 fields of concentration. They are Automotive Engineering, Manufacture Engineering, and Heavy Equipment Engineering.
Since 2003, The Faculty of Engineering, Universitas Gadjah Mada has been exchanging mutual collaboration with PT Indomobil Suzuki Internasional by developing “Pusdiklat Suzuki Gadjah Mada” (Training Center Suzuki Gadjah Mada) equipped with 16 units of motorcycle completed with service tools based on Suzuki service standard.
Manufacture Engineering is a type of concentration based on working principals of design and mechanics. It focuses on Mechanical Elements, Mechanical Technology, Metal Welding and Foundry, Material Analysis and Testing supported by Engineering Drawings, CAD & CNC, Computer Programming, and Industrial Automation Control.
Heavy Equipment Engineering
Since 2011, UGM has been exchanging MoU with PT. Hexindo Adi Perkasa Tbk, as the subsidiary of heavy equipments under license of HITACHI.
The fast development of mining and plantation industry demands skillful heavy equipment technicians. This condition triggers UGM to graduate human resources in the field of heavy equipment engineering.
There are 15 laboratories owned by Mechanical Engineering Department to support the teaching learning activities. They are as follows:
- Automatic Laboratory
- Material Laboratory
- Mechanics Technology Laboratory
- CNC-CAM Laboratory
- Pneumatic and Automation Control Laboratory
- Welding Technology Laboratory
- Pumping and Refrigeration Laboratory
- Computer and CAD Laboratory
- Heavy Equipments Laboratory
