Australia, July 10, 2025 – The Dean of Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Agus Maryono, IPM., ASEAN Eng., paid a official visit to the Embassy of the Republic of Indonesia in Canberra. The visit took place from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. and was attended by representatives from the Indonesian Embassy and the Indonesian Education Attaché in Australia.

The Indonesian Embassy warmly welcomed the arrival of the Dean of Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada and emphasized the importance of ongoing cooperation between the two institutions. The Indonesian Ambassador to Australia expressed his hope that the support from the Embassy would strengthen collaboration in the fields of research and teaching.
During the meeting, the Ambassador also discussed opportunities to send interns from Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada or Indonesia to Indonesian companies in Australia. It is emphasized that many Indonesian companies have invested in Australia, thus opening opportunities for students to gain valuable experience in this sector.
As a form of commitment to enhance cooperation, the Embassy stated that collaboration with Australia could be carried out in various fields, including water, food, and energy. This shows great potential for Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada to expand its academic and research networks.
The Indonesian Education Attaché then offered a program to send students from Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada to participate in an upskilling program as teachers in the fields of language and arts (culture). This program aims to enhance extracurricular activities in primary and secondary education in Australia, providing opportunities for students to acquire new skills that are relevant to the educational needs of the country.
As a follow-up to this meeting, Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada has sent an official letter to the Indonesian Embassy in Australia regarding internship opportunities or upskilling programs for students. In addition, a cooperation seminar between Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada and the Indonesian Embassy in Australia is planned, titled “Fostering Impactful Research and Innovation in Energy and Water Resilience,” which is expected to strengthen relations and promote beneficial research and innovation.
This visit is expected to be a positive first step in developing academic cooperation between Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada and various parties in Australia, as well as supporting efforts to produce impactful innovations in various fields.
