Yogyakarta, August 7, 2025 – Sekolah Vokasi (School of Applied Sciences) Universitas Gadjah Mada received an official visit from Poltekkes Kemenkes Makassar as part of a Study Tour held in Room R201, 2nd Floor of the Teaching Industry Learning Center (TILC) Building. This activity aims to strengthen relationships between vocational colleges in Indonesia and to exchange knowledge, experiences, and best practices in vocational education management.

Present at the occasion were the Director of Poltekkes Kemenkes Makassar and his staff, the Vice Dean for Cooperation and Alumni of SV UGM and his staff, as well as the Head of the Department of Health Services and Information (DLIKES) SV UGM along with the teaching team and study program managers.
The event opened with remarks from Dr. Nur Rokhman, S.Si., M.Kom. as Head of the DLIKES SV UGM Department, who expressed his appreciation for the visit of Poltekkes Kemenkes Makassar to Sekolah Vokasi UGM.
“Welcome to Sekolah Vokasi UGM”. We are very open to welcoming Poltekkes Kemenkes Makassar to learn together, exchange experiences, and establish relationships that are beneficial to both institutions,” he said.
The next speech was delivered by Dr. Endang Soelistiyowati, S.Pd., M.Pd. as Vice Dean for Cooperation and Alumni, who emphasized the importance of building synergy between universities.
“Collaboration is an effort to join hands, not competition. The hope is that through this cooperation, we can work together to develop institutions, bring innovation, and make a real contribution to society,” she said.
The next speech was delivered by Dr. Drs. Rusli, Apt. Sp. FRS, Director of the Makassar Health Polytechnic, who expressed his gratitude and the main purpose of this visit. “We intend this visit to take positive things, emulate best practices, and modify them to suit our needs. We will implement all of this at Poltekkes Kemenkes Makassar to improve the quality of vocational education,” he said.

During the discussion session, DLIKES SV UGM presented various achievements and learning development strategies. One of them was the successful establishment of an association in the field of Occupational Safety and Health (OSH) with other universities as a forum for academic and professional collaboration. Cooperation was also built through community service programs with partners, including involvement as resource persons in activities held by partners.
In addition, interdisciplinary collaboration is one of the focuses of SV UGM, which regularly holds partner gatherings every year. These activities not only serve to maintain good relationships, but also provide updates on the latest technology to ensure that the curriculum remains relevant. The learning strategy at SV UGM is structured, beginning with strengthening core competencies in the first to fifth semesters, then providing room for exploration in the following semesters through industrial internships and student exchanges. Field Work Practice (PKL) is utilized as an introduction to the world of work in industry before students enter full internships in their final semester.
The visit took place in a friendly and enthusiastic atmosphere. The exchange of ideas is expected to be the first step towards more intensive collaboration in the future. The event ended with the presentation of souvenirs and a group photo session as a symbol of friendship and the commitment of both institutions to continue working together for the advancement of vocational education in Indonesia.
