Yogyakarta, (14/3) – Sekolah Vokasi Universitas (SV UGM) held a Ramadan Symposium with the theme “Welcoming the Revelation of the Quran: Celebrating the Blessings of Ramadan 1446 Hijri” on Friday afternoon (14/3). The event aimed to deepen understanding of the meaning of the Qur’an in academic life and strengthen Islamic values within the campus community.

The event began with a performance by the EL KHIS Hadroh Group, who sang sholawat and qasidah to enliven the atmosphere. Following that, the event was officially opened by the Master of Ceremony and continued with the recitation of the Qur’an by Mr. M. Sulaiman Arrosyid, S.Fil., MBA., which added to the solemnity of the event.
The Dean of Sekolah Vokasi UGM, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Agus Maryono, IPM., ASEAN Eng., emphasized in his speech that the Quran is a source of knowledge that aligns with the academic world. He stated that the values contained in the Quran can serve as a foundation in every aspect of life, including in the development of science and technology. “May this event serve as a reminder to us all that the Quran is a source of knowledge that we must study and apply in our academic and professional lives,” he said in his speech.
The highlight of the event was a lecture delivered by Ir. Nanung Danar Dono, S.Pt., MP, Ph.D., IPM., ASEAN Eng., who is a lecturer at the Faculty of Animal Science, UGM, and a halal auditor at LPPOM-MUI. In his lecture, he discussed the correlation between fasting and halal food, and highlighted the importance of halalness in daily consumption. One of the interesting topics discussed in the lecture was the ruling on tasting merchandise without the merchant’s permission, where if there is no permission or consent from the merchant, it remains haram even if the food is halal. “Halal is not just about the substance of the food, but also how we obtain it. We must ensure that the food we consume is not only halal in substance but also halal in the way it is obtained,” he said.
The event concluded with a joint prayer, followed by a shared iftar and joint Maghrib prayer. The atmosphere of togetherness and devotion was felt throughout the event, reflecting the spirit of unity during the month of Ramadan.
With the successful holding of this Ramadan Symposium, it is hoped that all members of the academic community at Sekolah Vokasi UGM will gain a deeper understanding of the values of the Quran and apply them in their academic and daily lives. This event serves as a momentum to strengthen faith and enhance blessings during the holy month of Ramadan.
