In June 2025, the Center of Excellence (CoE) for Smart and Green Building Information successfully supported the implementation of research studies by lecturers and final projects by students of the Department of Earth Technology by providing the latest survey and mapping equipment and conducting training to improve equipment maintenance. This support demonstrates the commitment of the CoE Smart and Green Building Information in supporting the development of science and technology in the field of surveying and mapping, while strengthening its active role in supporting academic activities at the Sekolah Vokasi UGM.
On June 2-10, 2025, the CoE Smart and Green Building Information facilitated survey and mapping tools for research conducted by lecturers from the Department of Earth Technology at Sekolah Vokasi UGM who are pursuing their doctoral degrees at University College London in England. The equipment provided by CoE Smart and Green Building Information consists of one DJI Phantom RTK drone, one DJI DRTK2 GNSS unit with tripod, one Trimble R8s GNSS unit, and one controller. The equipment was used to collect data in the coastal area of the Special Region of Yogyakarta for doctoral research. The activity was carried out smoothly and the equipment was returned in good condition.

The use of surveying and mapping tools at the CoE Smart and Green Building Information was continued by applied undergraduate students from the Department of Earth Engineering on June 10-16, 2025. The equipment used consisted of two Trimble R8s GNSS units along with two tripods and two controllers. The equipment was used in Ngaglik Subdistrict, Sleman Regency, Special Region of Yogyakarta. The equipment was used for static measurements and RTK-NTRIP (Real-Time Kinematics – Networked Transport of RTCM, Radio Technical Commission for Maritime Services, via Internet Protocol) within a maximum radius of 20 km from CORS GMU1 (Continuously Operating Reference Station GMU1) as part of the final project for students in the Basic Surveying and Mapping Technology study program. During this activity, the students used the equipment properly and returned it in its original condition.

The CoE Smart and Green Building Information survey and mapping tools were also used for faculty research from June 11 to 17, 2025. The equipment used in this activity consisted of two Trimble R8s GNSS units with two tripods and one DJI DRTK2 GNSS unit with a tripod. This activity is a continuation of data collection on May 14–19, 2025, which also included aerial photography and field surveys for a joint research project between the Department of Earth Technology at Sekolah Vokasi UGM and the UGM Faculty of Agriculture. Data acquisition was carried out in Bungamayang PTPN VII, North Lampung, with the participation of around 15 people. The activity went smoothly and the equipment was returned in good condition.

On Monday–Tuesday, June 30, 2025–July 1, 2025, the CoE Smart and Green Building Information and the Earth Technology Department laboratory held a Training on the Development of Standard Operating Procedures for the Maintenance of Surveying and Mapping Equipment for laboratory technicians, lecturers, and students of the Earth Technology Department at the Sekolah Vokasi UGM. This activity is part of the implementation of the Grant Program for the Improvement of Laboratory Education Competency (PKPLP). The training was conducted in collaboration with PT. ASABA as the training instructor, who has extensive experience in maintaining surveying and mapping equipment. The training took place in the Hall of the Earth Technology Department Library Building at the Sekolah Vokasi UGM and proceeded smoothly.

With various activities carried out throughout June to early July 2025, the CoE Smart and Green Building Information has increasingly demonstrated its strategic role as a center of excellence in providing facilities, training, and technical support for the advancement of education and research in the field of survey and mapping technology. It is hoped that this synergy can continue to be enhanced in order to encourage innovation and produce competent graduates who are ready to face global challenges.
