The Pacific Asia Society (PAS) is set to host its World Friends Korea Summer Program 2025 at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta. This exciting event took place from July 7 to July 18, 2025, at the Department of Foreign Language, Arts, and Cultural Management, Vocational College of UGM. After several postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the PAS team is thrilled to return to UGM, where they have previously conducted successful programs.

Traditionally, this program has been attended primarily by students from the Korean Language Study Program. However, this year marks a significant change as the activities opened to the general public, promoting cultural diversity and inclusivity. The program aims to foster education for sustainability by providing participants with a unique opportunity to learn about Korean language and culture, as well as engage in various creative and innovative activities.

Participants had the chance to learn traditional Indonesian musical instruments, including the angklung and gamelan, and experience taekwondo dance. Additionally, a food festival will showcase the rich culinary heritage of Korea, allowing attendees to explore the flavors and traditions of Korean cuisine. The program will also feature a flea market, where participants can engage in creative exchanges and showcase their artistic talents. A total of 19 volunteers from Korea, including two faculty members, joined the program. Indonesian participants numbered around 119, with 10 committee members assisting in organizing the event. The program is coordinated by Ibu Ummul and Ibu Renci, both of whom are Korean language lecturers at the Department of Language, Arts, and Cultural Management at UGM.

The opening ceremony took place in the TILC ballroom at the Vocational College of UGM, setting the stage for an enriching experience. The closing ceremony was held on the Lapangan Rumput of DBSMB, UGM, marking the culmination of the program and celebrating the friendships formed during the event.
