The event, held online on August 22, 2025, took the theme “How Electric Vehicles Changed My View of Transportation,” with the aim of creating a space for dialogue among young people from around the world about the impact of electric vehicles on transportation systems, mobility, and environmental sustainability. The forum was attended by hundreds of participants from various countries, including representatives from King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi (Thailand), Semen Indonesia International University (Indonesia), Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (Indonesia), Tawau Sabah Polytechnic (Malaysia), National University of Laos (Laos), and National Polytechnic Institute of Cambodia (Cambodia).

At the forum, the three SV UGM students gave a presentation titled “Electric Vehicles and a New Perspective on Mobility in Indonesia.” This presentation discussed how the development of electric vehicles not only provides an environmentally friendly solution to reduce carbon emissions, but also changes people’s mindset regarding transportation in Indonesia. They emphasized that electric vehicles have the potential to drive transformation towards a greener, smarter, and more inclusive mobility system, in line with Indonesia’s commitment to sustainable development.

As one of the representatives, Irfan Rahadian Adriyanto shared his views on the importance of the role of the younger generation in ensuring a successful transition to clean energy.

As one of the speakers, Irfan Rahadian Adriyanto emphasized the importance of the younger generation’s role in the transition to clean energy. He said, “As young people, every action we take matters. Raising awareness, changing habits, and supporting innovation may seem small, but when done together, it becomes a powerful movement. And if millions of Indonesian youth take this step, the impact will be enormous,” he said in closing his presentation.

Meanwhile, Nasywa Hana Ariella and Dhimas Naufal Ramadhani also shared their perspectives on the role of innovation and cross-sector collaboration in accelerating the adoption of electric vehicles in Indonesia. Their discussion highlighted the importance of support from the government, the private sector, and public awareness in creating an environmentally friendly and sustainable transportation ecosystem.

The participation of three Sekolah Vokasi UGM as speakers at this international forum is clear evidence that vocational students are able to compete and contribute on the global stage. Not only did they represent UGM, they also served as young ambassadors representing Indonesia, voicing the younger generation’s commitment to environmental issues and sustainable mobility. Their presence on the international stage also reinforces UGM’s important role in encouraging students to engage more broadly in the global arena through collaboration, research, and concrete action.
