UGM Vocational College and NUAA China Strengthen Global Synergy for Vocational Higher Education and Research

Yogyakarta, December 1, 2025 — A delegation from Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), China, paid an official visit to Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) as part of efforts to strengthen strategic cooperation in the fields of research, vocational education, and international mobility. The meeting was held on Monday, December 1, 2025, at the Rector’s Guest Room, Main Building of UGM, North Wing, 2nd Floor, and was attended by university leaders from both institutions.

The NUAA delegation was led by Prof. TAO Yong (Vice Chairman of the University Board), accompanied by Prof. KONG Chuiqian, Dr. ZHANG Guoquan, Dr. ZHANG Lin, Dr. WU Weiwei, and Prof. JIN Quanyuan. Representing UGM were the Dean of the Vocational College, the Vice Dean for Finance, Assets, and Human Resources of the Vocational College, the Director of Partnerships and Global Relations, along with several lecturers and researchers, including Prof. Ir. PanutMulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., IPU, ASEAN Eng., Prof. Ir. Selo, S.T., M.T., M.Sc., Ph.D., IPU, ASEAN Eng., Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Agus Maryono, IPM., ASEAN Eng., Dr. Eng. Yosephus Ardean Kurnianto Prayitno, S.T., M.Eng., Dr. Eng. Ir. Adhika Widyaparaga, S.T., M.Biomed., and Dr. Irfan Bahiuddin, S.T., M.Phil., Ph.D., from the Vocational College and the Faculty of Engineering at UGM.

The meeting discussed strategic directions for strengthening partnerships through the Summer Lecture Program (SLP)and the Conference on International Exchange of Professionals (CIEP) scheduled for 2026, as well as plans for implementing joint research initiatives in aerospace engineering, digital manufacturing, and intelligent systems. As a research-oriented institution with Double First-Class University status in China, NUAA is widely recognized for its excellence in aerospace and engineering sciences.

The UGM Vocational College, through its Department of Mechanical Engineering, has been an active partner of NUAA since 2021, particularly in the development of academic exchange programs and joint innovation laboratoriesthatsupport industry-based learning. This collaboration is expected to further strengthen the role of the Vocational College within an international higher education ecosystem that is responsive to global technological advancements.

This visit also reaffirmed the contribution of UGM and NUAA to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly SDG 4 (Quality Education), SDG 9 (Industry, Innovation, and Infrastructure), and SDG 17 (Partnerships for the Goals), through international collaboration focused on enhancing vocational education capacity and applied research.
