Monday (30/1), Vocational College (SV) UGM established cooperation with Indonesian Aviation School (STPI) Curug. This cooperation was established by MoU signing between Dean of Vocational College UGM, Wikan Sakarinto, ST, M.Sc., Ph.D., and Head of STPI Curug Novyanto Widadi, S.Pi.
According to Wikan, this cooperation was a follow up action of a mutual agreement between The Ministry of Transportation and UGM about Human Resources Development, Technology and Transportation Management. Before the MoU signing, SV UGM has visited STPI Curug (9/01/17) to discuss about the concept of cooperation in details.
“SV will never stop making innovations, it is a wrong way if we wait too long to take an action. The main key (to make innovations) is synergy”, Wikan added.
As a higher education institution under the authority of The Ministry of Transportation established in 1952, STPI provides curriculum and laboratories in accordance with what SV UGM demands. This point encourages SV UGM to establish the cooperation.
The scheme of on going cooperation includes student mobility to STPI within certain period (semester). The study programs involved in this cooperation are those included in Department of Electrical and Informatics Engineering, Civil Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. It matches with the objectives of SV UGM to establish new concentration on Maintenance of Heavy Equiment.
On the same occasion, Head of STPI, Novyanto said that this cooperation could be used as a means of providing high quality Human Resources on aviation in Indonesia.
After the MoU signing ceremony, the respective guests were invited to visit laboratories at SV UGM. (ty)
