Yogyakarta, August 21, 2025 – The Applied Veterinary Technology Undergraduate Program, Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM) held an Inauguration and Oath-Taking Ceremony for Veterinary Paramedics in the Ballroom on the 2nd floor of the TILC Building. This event marked the inauguration of 54 graduates as professional veterinary paramedics who are ready to take on responsibilities in the field of animal health and animal husbandry.

The event was attended by the Dean of SV UGM and his staff, the Head of the Department of Biotechnology and Veterinary Medicine (DTHV), the Head of the Veterinary Technology Study Program, the Chair of the Indonesian Veterinary Paramedics Association (PAVETI), the Chair of the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (PDHI) Yogyakarta Branch, the Vice Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH), as well as the graduates participating in the professional oath ceremony.

In the education report, the Head of the Veterinary Technology Study Program stated that 54 participants officially took their professional oath, with an average GPA of 3.56 and an average study period of 3.87 years.
On this occasion, Prof. Dr. drh. Ida Tjahajati, MP., Chair of DTHV, emphasized the profound meaning of the professional oath. “The professional oath is not just a ceremony, but a commitment to serve by upholding ethics, integrity, and professionalism. Caring for animals also means caring for life, because every contribution, no matter how small, has a significant impact on society and the nation. Veterinary paramedics must be ready to serve the country wholeheartedly.”
In line with this, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Agus Maryono, IPM., ASEAN Eng., Dean of SV UGM, emphasized the importance of vocational competence in facing future challenges. “Sekolah Vokasi UGMhas a motto of Holistic, Comprehensive, and Structured Skills Education and a spirit of Vocational Innovation Towards a Golden Indonesia. Graduates must be equipped with innovative, productive, collaborative, and solution-oriented attitudes in order to compete in the world of work. I advise graduates to continue to improve their competencies, including through continuing education, for the sake of their future career and professional development.”
The oath-taking ceremony was led by Wijayati Andadari, S.E., Chair of the PAVETI Central Executive Board. In her speech, she said, “On behalf of PAVETI, I would like to congratulate the graduates who have just taken their professional oath. May the veterinary paramedics be able to contribute to improving service quality, controlling animal diseases, and ensuring the safety of animal products. Hold fast to the principles of Asah, Asih, and Asuh as the foundation of your dedication to the advancement of Indonesian animal husbandry.”
Congratulations were also conveyed by Dr. Aniq Syihabuddin, Chair of the Yogyakarta Branch of the Indonesian Veterinary Medical Association (PDHI). “I would like to congratulate you on your achievements. The knowledge you have gained through your long journey of study must be put to good use. As the frontline in animal welfare and improving the quality of animal products, veterinary paramedics are expected to continue developing their competencies and adapting to the needs of the industry.”
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Aris Hariyanto, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine at Universitas Gadjah Mada, expressed his high appreciation. “Today’s achievements are the result of dedication, perseverance, and hard work that deserve to be appreciated. We hope that graduates can collaborate with veterinarians in maintaining animal health while continuously enhancing their professional competencies to fulfill the significant responsibilities in the veterinary field. Let us collectively uphold the noble objectives of this profession.”

On behalf of the graduates, student representatives expressed their gratitude to the lecturers and teaching staff. “On behalf of all graduates, we express our respect, gratitude, and apologies to the lecturers and teaching staff for the guidance they have provided. Today is the beginning of a greater journey, and we are committed to supporting each other and contributing to our future professional service.”
The event concluded with a joint prayer, entertainment, and a warm group photo session. This milestone marks an important step for the veterinary paramedic graduates of SV UGM in reaffirming their professional commitment to serve the nation and country.
