Pitaya, S.E.T., M.Sc., a lecturer of the Tourism study program, the Department of Languages, Arts, and Culture Management of Vocational College, Universitas Gadjah Mada, participated in the Global Youth Leadership Exchange Program entitled “GoGo Pyeongchang.” This event runs on February 14 – 17, 2019, in South Korea. This program is a series of international programs organized by the East Asia Inter-Regional Tourism Forum General Secretariat in Gangwon to introduce and promote the contributions of the EATOF into the international forum. The tagline of this program is “discover, experience, inspire.”
“GoGo Pyeongchang aims to attract the young generations from the member countries of the EATOF to meet, gather, and synergize in various strategic programs as the world’s future leaders,” says Pitaya.
This activity, he continued, was sponsored by the EATOF General Secretariat and was held in a series with the Winter Olympics. With this activity, the youth delegates from their respective countries could collaborate in organizing international events in the future to provide international experience to the younger generations, exchange information, and show each nation’s cultural character. Besides, they could make the tourism sector a medium for collaboration.
“That’s why the GoGo Pyeongchang contains solid events to cultivate the young generations of EATOF through tourism activities. This program includes formal meetings, performing arts collaborations, and educational tours. The educational tours do not only introduce the participants to sports tourism through the Winter Olympics but also introduce them to world peace missions through a visit to the DMZ (demilitarization zone), the border between South Korea and North Korea,” says Pitaya.
