Yogyakarta – In an atmosphere full of warmth and togetherness, Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM) held the Syawalan 1446 Hijri event on Tuesday (8/4) at the Co-working Space on the 1st floor of the TILC SV UGM Building. This event served as an important opportunity to strengthen bonds of relationship, seek mutual forgiveness, and renew the spirit of collaboration following the month of Ramadan.
The Syawalan event was attended by the Chair and Secretary of the SV UGM Senate, the Dean and his team, Department Chairs and Secretaries, lecturers, and educational staff from both the University Integrated Service Office (KPTU) and departments within SV UGM.
The event began with an opening ceremony, followed by a speech by the Dean of SV UGM, Prof. Ing. Ir. Agus Maryono, IPM., ASEAN Eng. In his speech, he shared an inspiring message about the meaning of Ramadan and the importance of maintaining the spirit of togetherness.
“The month of Ramadan has taught us about patience, self-control, and sincerity in living our lives. Now is the time for us to continue our journey with a new spirit to improve ourselves, enhance performance, strengthen collaboration, and build a harmonious and productive work culture.”
He also emphasized that Syawalan is not merely a tradition, but an opportunity to strengthen synergy and camaraderie within the institution.
“May the spirit of Ramadan, which is still fresh in our hearts, guide us toward a better future, both personally and professionally. Let us make Syawalan a starting point to open a new chapter with clean hearts, mutual forgiveness, and renewed enthusiasm. For it is through unity and sincerity that Sekolah Vokasi UGM can grow into a stronger, more dignified institution that brings benefits to the nation.”
Next, the first Syawalan pledge was delivered by Dr. Fatkhurohman, S.IP., M.Si., as the representative of lecturers Sekolah Vokasi UGM. In his pledge, he expressed apologies for any mistakes that may have occurred, whether in words, actions, or deeds, whether intentional or unintentional.
He also urged all members of the academic community to maintain good relations, strengthen brotherhood, and build a cohesive and positive work environment. Additionally, the pledge included a commitment to improve academic quality and professionalism, create a conducive and respectful academic environment, nurture quality and virtuous future generations, and continue learning for the advancement of the institution and the nation.
The second pledge was delivered by Eko Haryono, S.T., M.Eng., as a representative of the SV UGM educational staff. With sincerity, he said, “Every breathing human being is bound to make mistakes and errors. On this festive day, we wish you a happy Eid al-Fitr and ask for your forgiveness, both physically and spiritually.”
The event continued with a joint prayer led by Alif Subardono, S.T., M.Eng., seeking blessings, safety, and smoothness in carrying out future tasks. The familial atmosphere grew stronger as all participants shook hands in a friendly gathering, accompanied by an entertainment performance from SV UGM’s internal band, which added to the joyful atmosphere with cheerful songs.
This Syawalan event served as a reflection of the values of togetherness and an opportunity to renew our commitment to building an excellent, inclusive, and humanistic environment within Sekolah Vokasi UGM.
