Collaboration between SV UGM and IBEC Presents 27 United Kingdom Universities and Educational Institutions

On Tuesday (30/1), Vocational College UGM in collaboration with IBEC (Indonesia Britain Education Centre) held a UK Education Expo and Academic Networking event in the TILC ballroom. The purpose of this event is to provide information on opportunities and strategies for further undergraduate and postgraduate study (scholarship and non-scholarship programs) at universities in the United Kingdom as well as provide international exposure for students and lecturers of UGM and institutions outside UGM. A total of 27 booths consisting of 24 universities and 3 educational institutions of the United Kingdom were present at the event.

The event began with remarks from Dr. Endang Soelistiyowati, S.Pd., M.Pd. as Vice Dean for Cooperation and Alumni of Vocational College UGM. She encourages students to continue their studies abroad. Then the next agenda is remarks as well as the introduction of the delegations by IBEC Senior Counsellor, Satyadhi Hendra. In his speech, he expressed his appreciation to Vocational College UGM for expanding its network through collaboration that aims to build strong connections on an international scale.

There were around 150 people who participated in the UK Education Expo and Academic Networking event. All university booths and educational institutions were visited in turn. The booths were also seen with some queues of visitors who wanted to have consultation. In addition to consultation sessions at each booth which took place from the beginning to the end of the event, there were also seminars divided into 3 sessions, which are Seminar: Why UK PhD Is Very Popular by the University of Leeds delegation, Seminar: Personal Statement Workshop by the Lancaster University delegation, and The University of Glasgow to Welcome Indonesian Students by the University of Glasgow delegation.

In an exclusive interview with one of the delegates, namely Yeyen Sinarta as the Regional Manager of Bournemouth University, she said that she was very impressed by the enthusiasm and positive energy of the UK Education Expo and Academic Networking visitors ranging from college students, lecturers, teachers, to high school students who were interested in studying in the United Kingdom. As for the implementation of this event, she then expressed her hope to be able to provide important information about the choice of study programs, registration selection, and also available scholarships.
