UGM Inaugurates 1,158 Diploma Graduates in August 2017

The Graduation Ceremony of Diploma Three (D3) and Diploma Four (D4) of Universitas Gadjah Mada this year was attended by 1,158 graduates consisting of 1,107 Diploma Three graduates and 51 Diploma Four graduates on Wednesday and Thursday (23-24 / 08/2017) at Grha Sabha Pramana.

The average GPA achieved by students of the Department of Bio-resource Technology and Veterinary is 3.34, the Department of Economics and Business is 3.33, the Department of Foreign Languages, Art and Culture Management is 3.51, the Department of Electrical Engineering and Informatics is 3.39, the Department of Geo-technology Engineering is 3.44, the Department of Health Information and Services is 3.25, the Department of Mechanical Engineering is 3.3, and the Department of Civil Engineering is 3.35. The highest GPA on this period is achieved by Yoga Cahya Mahardika from Diploma 3 of Paramedical Veterinary which is 3.97. In addition to being the highest GPA achiever, Yoga is also the grantee of student scholarship from PT. Ultrajaya.

In his speech representing the graduates, Yoga expressed his gratitude for the countless effort and consitency shown by all graduates to be able to achieve the best and to be the persons who can educate their surroundings and can give contribution to the nation. Further, he also thanked everyone at Vocational College UGM, his parents who always give abundant support as well as all of his friends.

“I congratulate everyone on our achievements, today. We can see that today not only we are smiling but the people on our right and left who have been struggling behind us are also smiling happily. So, our task after this is to make our nation smile for our work and contribution, “he said.

The Rector of UGM, Prof. Ir. Panut Mulyono, M.Eng., D.Eng., in his speech, extended his congratulations to the graduates who had successfully completed the diploma education. He expected that the graduates could be able to improve their outstanding achievements in the future and give optimal contribution to Indonesia. “We are very proud to inaugurate you today. Hopefully you can carry out the task well to give tireless contribution to our beloved country,” he said.

To be known, each department at Vocational College UGM has a tradition to carry out an event the night before the graduation which is called “Mangayubagyo” (a formal senior prom night). Each department did it successfully. “Mangayubagyo” is an event where the graduates come with their chaperons (mostly their parents) to meet the lecturers to exchange appreciation and gratitude to each other.

Entertainments are presented during “Mangayubagyo” at every department which vary from traditional dance, karawitan, acoustic band and others. To show appreciation, the departments also distribute souvenirs and diplomas/certificates for the graduates. This event is also recognize as a gathering between student chaperons/parents and the lecturers. (ty)

Dean Sends 18 Vocational College Students to Compete in the Pimnas-30 Makassar

Monday (21/08/17), PIMNAS (National Student Scientific Week) is the benchmark set to measure student achievement and creativity in Indonesia. Each university in Indonesia continues to strive for high achievement in PIMNAS, including UGM. UGM keeps contributing to the better implementation of PKM and PIMNAS. UGM continually strives to increase its contribution to create competitive, creative, innovative and solutive PIMNAS, while maintaining the spirit of togetherness and unity.

Attending the release ceremony of the 30th Pimnas contingents held by Vocational College UGM were the coaches: Ma’un Budiyanto, ST, MT, Diah Wulandari, A.Md., S.Keb., M.Keb, Muhammad Arrofiq, ST, MT, Ph.D., Dr. Hadianto Ismangoen, Sp.A.

Dean of Vocational College (SV) Wikan Sakarinto S.T., M.T., Ph.D., in Elisa Room of Soeparwi Building, officially sent 18 students of 4 Student Creativity Program Teams (PKM) which passed to the final of PIMNAS-30 at Universitas Muslim Indonesia (UMI) Makassar

Wikan expected that students competing in PIMNAS-30 could be able to show the identity as students from an outstanding university.

“The academic team here will concentrate on your achievements. Congratulations! Keep fighting in the PIMNAS-30 Makassar to get the best achievements!” he said.

“Thank you. It is our expectation that by preparing the best, we are ready to win the PIMNAS-30,” he added. (ty)
