Shenzhen, China — Sekolah Vokasi of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM), through the Center of Excellence (CoE) Medical Devices and Fabrication Laboratory & Plant (Fablab Jogja), participated in Maker Faire Shenzhen 2025, held on 15–18 November 2025 at the Vanke Cloud Design Commune, Nanshan, Shenzhen. In this context, public relations plays a crucial role as a facilitator, enabling the delivery of targeted and unobstructed messages among stakeholders globally.
In 2025, an innovative research initiative was carried out at Prambanan Temple, focusing on culinary depictions carved into its intricate reliefs. The study aims to identify and explore the potential of culinary tourism based on cultural heritage. The findings are expected to contribute significantly to sustainable cultural tourism, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) related to food, education, and economy.

Yogyakarta, September 26, 2025 – Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM) officially opened its 16th Anniversary Celebration on Friday (26/9) at the southern parking area of the Teaching Industry Learning Center (TILC) UGM.
Carrying the theme “Building Impactful Applied Bachelor, Master, and Doctoral Programs”, the event marks Sekolah Vokasi UGM’s commitment to strengthening its role in providing high-quality and socially beneficial vocational education.
The celebration began with a Zumba session led by instructor Zin Dante, symbolizing enthusiasm, unity, and support for Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 3: Good Health and Well-being.
The event was officially opened by Masters of Ceremony, Vinsen Kevin and Hana Ariella, both students of Sekolah Vokasi UGM.

In his report, Dr. Leo Indra Wardhana, M.Sc., CFP., GRCE., Vice Dean for Academic and Student Affairs and Chairperson of the 16th Anniversary, emphasized the importance of the Dies Natalis as a moment of reflection.
“This 16th Dies Natalis is a moment of reflection and commitment to developing applied education that is academically relevant and provides real contributions to society and national development,” he said.
He added that the anniversary series includes not only celebrations but also impactful activities, such as Lentera Vokasi (community service), sports festivals, health workshops, and a national seminar.

Meanwhile, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Agus Maryono, IPM., ASEAN Eng., Dean of Sekolah Vokasi UGM, outlined the college’s strategic vision.
“This year’s theme reaffirms our commitment to building impactful applied bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. Vocational students should not stop at theory but must engage directly through practice, community service, and applied projects. This way, Sekolah Vokasi UGM graduates are always ready to be part of the nation’s solutions,” he remarked.
The opening ceremony was marked by the symbolic cutting of the tumpeng (traditional cone-shaped rice dish) by the Dean, the Anniversary Chair, and the Senate representative, witnessed by university leaders, partners, and invited guests.
The celebration continued with karaoke performances, door prizes, and free health and eye check-ups for the SV UGM academic community, supported by students of the Master of Public Health Program (FK-KMK UGM) and RSUP Dr. Sardjito Hospital.

The Student Creativity Program (PKM), organized by the Directorate of Learning and Student Affairs (Belmawa) of the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology, aims to foster innovation and creativity among university students across Indonesia. In 2025, PKM consists of ten categories focusing on idea development, entrepreneurship, community service, research, and technological innovation. The program supports ten national development priorities, including food security, health, MSME empowerment, environmental sustainability, and education enhancement.
The funded teams will implement their projects from August to October 2025, followed by the reporting and selection stages for the National Student Scientific Week (PIMNAS) at the end of the year.
This achievement demonstrates Sekolah Vokasi UGM’s strong commitment to nurturing students in producing creative, applied-science-based works that deliver real impact to society.
Yogyakarta, August 21, 2025 – The Applied Veterinary Technology Undergraduate Program, Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM) held an Inauguration and Oath-Taking Ceremony for Veterinary Paramedics in the Ballroom on the 2nd floor of the TILC Building. Yogyakarta, August 11, 2025 – Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM) received an official visit from Politeknik Mitra Industri in Room R201, 2nd Floor of the Teaching Industry Learning Center (TILC) Building. This visit served as a forum for sharing experiences and strengthening cooperation in developing a Teaching Factory (TEFA) learning model that is relevant to industry needs.
Yogyakarta, August 7, 2025 — Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM) successfully held Pionir Permadani 2025, part of the Pionir Gadjah Mada 2025 series, which aims to introduce the academic environment to new students of Sekolah Vokasi, often referred to as Gamavo. Under the theme “Resilience and Acceleration of Vocational Education, Pillars of Educational Transformation for the Nation,” the event, which took place on August 6–7, 2025, was attended by hundreds of new students with great enthusiasm and excitement.

On the first day, Gamavo participated in activities in their respective departments. Gamavo was divided into groups according to their fields of study, then taken on a department tour to get to know the environment, facilities, and scientific characteristics of the department. In addition, Gamavo had the opportunity to interact directly with student organizations and department-level Semi-Autonomous Bodies (BSO), accompanied by entertainment performances that created a friendly atmosphere among new students.
The series of activities continued on the second day at Graha Sabha Pramana (GSP) UGM, which was the highlight of the Pionir Permadani 2025 event. On this occasion, Gamavo had the opportunity to gain inspiration directly from influential figures in their respective fields. The agenda began with a motivational speech by Prof. Dr. Anggito Abimanyu, M.Sc., GRCP, Deputy Minister of Finance and Professor of Economics at the Department of Economics and Business, Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada

In his presentation, Prof. Anggito emphasized the importance of taking pride in the study choices that have been made.
“When choosing, the options are very limited. But most importantly, you must be able to decide and give reasons,” he said.
The message encouraged new students to view their decision to continue their studies at Sekolah Vokasi UGM as a strategic step full of opportunities. More than just motivation, his speech served as a reminder that belief in one’s choices is the foundation for building resilience, developing potential, and contributing to the progress of the nation.
Next, the series of events continued with an interactive talk show hosted by Almeyda Legina, an outstanding student from the Department of Earth Technology, Geographic Information Systems Study Program. This session was designed to provide strategic insights and practical motivation for new students in facing challenges and opportunities in the world of work.

The talk show featured two inspiring speakers. Ir. I Made Andi Arsana, S.T., ME., Ph.D., a lecturer in Geodesy who is active in various Universitas Gadjah Mada academic forums. He discussed career prospects in the era of rapid development of Artificial Intelligence (AI). He emphasized that rapid technological advances are not a threat, but rather a great opportunity that vocational students can optimize to create innovations and make real contributions to society.

The second speaker, Angga Priyatmoko S.T., M.Eng, explained the business model canvas and design strategies, and encouraged students to not only understand the concepts, but also to immediately take concrete steps. He emphasized the importance of starting real action early, developing together with mentors, and building strong networks as preparation for accelerating their future careers.
Not only did they gain inspiring insights, Gamavo was also introduced to various student organizations, BSO, and Student Activity Units (UKM) at SV UGM, such as PMK, Java, Formasi, and others. The excitement was further heightened by UKM performances, sports flash mobs, theater performances by SV UGM students, and musical performances by the Vocational Music Forum (Formasi).
In closing, all Gamada members participated in a celebratory formation in front of the GSP, which was enthusiastically welcomed by the Garasi Vokasi UGM, marking the end of Pionir Permadani 2025 with a spirit of togetherness and optimism. Through this activity, Sekolah Vokasi UGM reaffirmed its commitment to producing strong, adaptive vocational graduates who are ready to contribute to the advancement of the nation.

Yogyakarta, July 21, 2025 — In an effort to improve the quality of public relations and protocol services, the Public Relations team of Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM) participated in a workshop on Strengthening Public Relations and Protocol in Supporting Impactful Diktisaintek. The event was organized by Universitas Gadjah Mada Secretariat and took place in Multimedia Room 1, UGM Central Building.

This workshop is highly relevant to us at the Vocational School, which continues to strive to strengthen its image and disseminate information about impactful vocational education. The event featured two expert speakers in their respective fields, namely Mr. Doddy Zulkifli Indra Atmaja, S.I.Kom., M.Si., Head of Public Relations and Protocol, General Affairs, Public Relations, and Goods and Services Procurement Bureau, Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education of the Republic of Indonesia, who discussed public relations with the theme “Public Communication in the Era of Impactful Research, Technology and Higher Education,” and Mr. Yayat Hendayana, S.S., M.Si., as Head of the Information Services-Public Services Team, General Affairs, Public Relations, and Procurement Bureau, Kemendiktisaintek RI, who focused on protocol matters with the theme “Enhancing the Competence of Protocol Human Resources in Higher Education Institutions.”
The University Secretary, Dr. Andi Sandi Antonius Tabusassa Tonralipu, S.H., LL.M., was also present to provide guidance and officially open the event. This event was a golden opportunity for the SV UGM public relations and protocol team to gain knowledge directly from practitioners.

In the first session, Mr. Doddy explained effective public relations strategies in the digital age.
“Today’s public relations strategy is not just about releasing news, but building authentic dialogue and engagement with the public,” said Doddy.
The material was delivered in a practical manner, accompanied by live demonstrations so that participants could easily understand its implementation in higher education environments, particularly at SV UGM.
The next session with Mr. Yayat Hendayana emphasized the importance of ideal protocol human resources.
“Protocol is not only about seating arrangements, ceremonial procedures, and honorary protocols. Protocol officers must know what ideal protocol is, namely protocol that understands its role based on job descriptions and work guidelines, as well as protocol that has personal skills and is always ready with its supporting pack,” he explained.
The practical session was the most eagerly awaited moment, where all participants—including those from various faculties and directorates of UGM—could directly try out the material they had learned. The activity ended with a feedback session from the speakers, who provided constructive evaluations for future improvement.
As a form of environmental awareness, the committee also encouraged participants to bring their own tumblers or water bottles. Water dispensers were provided as part of efforts to reduce plastic waste.
By participating in this workshop, SV UGM Public Relations and Protocol team hopes to apply the knowledge gained to strengthen the institution’s role in supporting the mission of Diktisaintek—namely higher education, research, and innovation that have a broad impact on society.

The Pacific Asia Society (PAS) is set to host its World Friends Korea Summer Program 2025 at Gadjah Mada University (UGM) in Yogyakarta. This exciting event took place from July 7 to July 18, 2025, at the Department of Foreign Language, Arts, and Cultural Management, Vocational College of UGM. After several postponements due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the PAS team is thrilled to return to UGM, where they have previously conducted successful programs.
Yogyakarta, July 17 — A research team consisting of lecturers and students from the English Applied Bachelor Program at Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada is currently examining storytelling strategies used in public relations campaigns by three multinational brands in Indonesia through Instagram Reels. The study aims to explore how linguistic elements are employed to shape brand image and build emotional engagement with social media audiences.
In June 2025, the Center of Excellence (CoE) for Smart and Green Building Information successfully supported the implementation of research studies by lecturers and final projects by students of the Department of Earth Technology by providing the latest survey and mapping equipment and conducting training to improve equipment maintenance. This support demonstrates the commitment of the CoE Smart and Green Building Information in supporting the development of science and technology in the field of surveying and mapping, while strengthening its active role in supporting academic activities at the Sekolah Vokasi UGM.

SV UGM and ClarityEnglish Promote English Language Learning Innovation through International Seminar
Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM), in collaboration with ClarityEnglish, successfully held an international seminar titled “Developing Students’ 5th Skill in English: Educational Technology & ‘In-Depth’ Learning in EFL” on May 8, 2025. The event brought together over 30 institutional representatives, including universities, schools, and organizations engaged in English language education.
Yogyakarta, 19th May 2025 – A total of 25 students from the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS), along with 2 teachers, engaged in a profound cross-cultural experience as part of the Short Term Immersion Programme SUSS x SV UGM. This program, a collaboration between SUSS and Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM), spanned nine days from May 8 to 16, 2025. The activity is part of the Interdisciplinary Global Learning Course (NIE351), which carried the theme “Discovering the Power of Storytelling for Self-Development and Community Building.”

Kulon Progo, May 6, 2025 – The Green House Field Research Center (FRC) of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) recently welcomed a visit from the General Manager of Swiss-Belhotel Kulon Progo. The visit aimed to explore strategic partnership opportunities in the field of edu-tourism, envisioned as an added-value experience for hotel guests. During the visit, the General Manager toured the Green House FRC UGM facilities and observed firsthand the melon cultivation process, which stands as one of the center’s signature programs. He was warmly welcomed by Ari Kustanto, the FRC manager, accompanied by Arif Firman, head of the greenhouse team.

Four Sekolah Vokasi UGM Lecturers Receive Awards for Reputable International Scientific Publications

Yogyakarta, Thursday, March 27, 2025 – Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM) has officially signed a collaboration agreement with the Regional Planning, Research, and Innovation Agency (BAPPERIDA) of Kulon Progo District to strengthen academic and local government synergy. This collaboration focuses on research and the implementation of technology to support regional development, particularly in realizing an agriculture-based aerotropolis. The event took place at the TILC SV UGM Ballroom and was attended by representatives from academia, local government, and local farmers interested in agricultural and technological development.
On March 22, 2025, a student from Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM) once again made an inspiring achievement. Annisa Desty Vambia, a student of the Public Sector Accounting program at the Department of Economics and Business, won 1st place in the Diploma category at the UGM-level Outstanding Student Selection (Pilmapres). The event was held at the Student Creativity Development Subdirectorate Office, Bulaksumur Blok F11, and was a collaboration between the UGM Directorate of Student Affairs and the Outstanding Student Community (Kommapres).
Yogyakarta, (14/3) – Sekolah Vokasi Universitas (SV UGM) held a Ramadan Symposium with the theme “Welcoming the Revelation of the Quran: Celebrating the Blessings of Ramadan 1446 Hijri” on Friday afternoon (14/3). Yogyakarta, February 4, 2025 – Sekolah Vokasi, Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM) held a Vocational Education Development Dialogue with the theme Strategic Collaboration Towards Indonesia Emas 2045. The event was attended by the Deputy Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Prof. Stella Christie, Ph.D., along with the leaders of SV UGM. The dialogue aimed to strengthen synergy between vocational higher education and the workforce to produce graduates with global competitiveness.
Faculty members and students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET) visited the Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada (SV UGM) to participate in a Short-Term International Mobility Program on 8th to 9th of January, 2025. The visit, which included discussions on potential collaboration, took place in Room 201 of the Teaching Industry Learning Center (TILC) at Sekolah Vokasi UGM on the 2nd floor from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM WIB.

The event was attended in person by Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Agus Maryono, IPM., ASEAN Eng., Dean of Sekolah Vokasi UGM, Dr. Leo Indra Wardhana, S.E., M.Sc., CFP., Deputy Dean for Academic Affairs and Student Affairs, Dr. Wiryanta, S.T., M.T., Deputy Dean for Research and Community Service, Dr. Endang Soelistiyowati, S.Pd., M.Pd., as the Vice Dean for Cooperation and Alumni Affairs, Alfelia Nugky Permatasari, S.S., M.A., as the Manager of the International Relations Unit of Sekolah Vokasi UGM along with her team, representatives from UniKL MICET, Amin Safwan Bin Alikasturi as a lecturer, and student representatives from UniKL MICET.
The event is opened with a welcome speech by the Dean of Sekolah Vokasi UGM, Prof. Dr.-Ing. Ir. Agus Maryono, IPM., ASEAN Eng., who expressed his hope for further collaboration between SV UGM and UniKL MICET. “Thank you so much for visiting Sekolah Vokasi UGM. This visit is our first visit in 2025. I hope this activity is not merely a visit but will lead to more sustainable collaboration not only now but also in the future.” he explained.
Not only that, the representative and academic advisor from UniKL MICET also expressed their gratitude for being welcomed to Sekolah Vokasi UGM. “Thank you for the warm welcome; it’s very nice. This is my first time here, visiting Sekolah Vokasi UGM. At UniKL, we specialize in Mechanical Engineering; I hope we can work together in the future.” he added.
The event continued with a sharing session. Sekolah Vokasi UGM, represented by Dr. Endang Soelistiyowati, S.Pd., M.Pd., presented the results of project-based learning by Sekolah Vokasi students. Not only that, to deepen their knowledge, participants were invited to visit the labs in the TILC UGM building, such as the Cultural & Tourism Center, Smart System and Innovation Center, and others.
The event concluded with a group photo and the exchange of souvenirs between SV UGM and UniKL MICET. The visit by faculty and students from Universiti Kuala Lumpur, Malaysian Institute of Chemical and Bioengineering Technology (UniKL MICET) to Sekolah Vokasi Universitas Gadjah Mada is expected to open opportunities for closer collaboration between the two institutions. 22 November 2024 – The recently concluded research comparing the linguistic landscapes of Malacca, Malaysia, and Yogyakarta, Indonesia, has provided valuable insights into the relationship between language, cultural identity, and urban heritage. Conducted between January and October 2024 under the research roadmap of Gadjah Mada University, this project explored how the languages displayed in public spaces reflect the emotions, perceptions, and cultural identities of the communities in these historic cities. The findings offer a rich understanding of how linguistic landscapes not only document cultural heritage but also shape the future of urban development.
On Thursday, November 1, 2024, the Vocational School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) Yogyakarta, Indonesia, made an official visit to the East Asia Management University (EAMU) in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, to discuss the follow-up of their Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). The meeting was attended by a delegation from EAMU, including Prof. James Chua, the Vice Chancellor, Dr. Kaing Sopheap, the Director of Academic Affairs, Mr. Roland Goh, Head of School, and Mr. Saruon from the University Relations, along with other management and staff members. The UGM delegation was represented by Dr. Faiz Zamzami and Dr. Kun Haribowo, lecturers from the Department of Economics and Business at the Vocational School.

Makassar, October 15, 2024. On October 15-16, 2024, a team of lecturers and educational staff from the Vocational School of Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) as a Source Vocational Higher Education Institution (Pertivsum) served as resource persons and moderator for a Training of Trainers (ToT) program for 35 lecturers and educational staff from Politeknik Dewantara Palopo. The event took place at the Arya Duta Hotel in Makassar. This ToT, titled “Training of Trainer Promotion Kits, Public Speaking and English Skills, Soft Skills, and Work Ethics,” is part of an initiative designed by Politeknik Dewantara as a targeted vocational higher education institution (Pertivsas) to optimize partnership efforts, not only with domestic partners but also with international ones.

Yogyakarta, August 9, 2024 – The Department of Electrical and Information Engineering, Vocational School, Universitas Gadjah Mada (DTEDI SV UGM) enthusiastically commenced its Lustrum III and 15th Anniversary celebrations with a Walkathon on Friday morning.
On July 24, 2024, the English Study Program of the Vocational School at Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) conducted a community service event in collaboration with the Regional Leadership Council of the Indonesian Indigenous Entrepreneurs Association (HIPPI) in Kulon Progo. The theme of the event was “Strengthening Marketing Communication Strategies for MSMEs in Kulon Progo.” This initiative aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), particularly focusing on economic resources, entrepreneurship, and access to education.

Vocational College Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) held a student exchange with Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics (NUAA), China through the program “Recent Trends on Biomedical and Industrial Research”. A total of three NUAA master’s program students participated in the program which took place at the Vocational College of Universitas Gadjah Mada from January 17 to February 18, 2024.
